All social workers can attest that at some point in their career they’ve had a situation that was an ethical dilemma. They work with people who are experiencing some very difficult and sensitive situations, and there are instances where issues arise that put social workers in a difficult position in regards to ethics. Whether it be from conflicting responsibilities of a social worker or an issue that lies in an ethical gray area. Fortunately, the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) has a code of ethics for social workers that lays out what is expected and required of a social worker when dealing with a variety of issues. Also, since social workers are considered covered entities under the Health Insurance Portability and Affordability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), they are also held responsible for protecting their clients’ health information. When faced with an ethical dilemma, if a social worker chooses to not follow the standards laid out by the NASW and HIPAA then they could face professional, and potentially legal, disciplinary actions. As with any profession, social workers come from various backgrounds and they work with others who also come from various backgrounds. Regardless of where a social worker comes from or what college they attend, it is important that all social workers are professionally competent when they begin working with clients. Chesnutt’s Evolving Treatment of the Color Line Through Naturalism in â€Å"A Matter of Principle† and The House Behind the Cedar’s Charles W. Chesnutt, a well-educated mulatto man, lived his life on ‘the color line.’ Chesnutt’s skin was very light and was sometimes mistaken for a white man. Chesnutt chose to identify himself as a black man, but in his works, his characters move back and forth across the color line and struggle with the world they exist in. The Wife of His Youth and Other Stories of the Color Line was published one year before The House Behind the Cedars and included the short story, â€Å"A Matter of Principle,† where Chesnutt clearly begins to explore what options are available to a mulatto man and his family, which will later†¦show more content†¦They educate themselves, gain wealth and prominence in their surroundings, emulate and eventually become a part of a certain type of elevated culture. Her goals include a refined education, the ability to own nice things and move among prestigious circles, and to begin a family that is honest and loving. As a highschool student I’m starting to set my goals for my future. Through my highschool years Im planning on taking the health service pathway as my elective. This core is for students who plan to pursue careers in the health service industry. It cost $31,608 per year plus additional $670 for student fees, and also if I decide to dorm it, it would cost $2721 per year. To provide for my college funds and fees I can apply for finical aid. There’s three types of financial aid, there’s grants , loans, and scholarship. Grants is a financial award given by the government to an eligible student. Loan is money you can borrow from the bank and you are responsisble to pay it back a year after you start working. Lastly, scholarship is an award of financial aid for a students who does well academically. I’m interested in receiving scholarship because I know I’m able to do good on my acedemics and that could provide me money to help me fund for my college. Im will start funding for my college by working part time jobs and applying for different types of scholarships and grants. This my last planning stage before I face the world and reality. This part is the hardest and the most fun stage,  reality. This is when everything I’ve work hard for is going to be worth it. This is the part where I work even harder and loving what I do.
